MiCBT Masterclass 1: Adapting the MiCBT Model to Improve Outcomes
Although the four-stage model of MiCBT is backed by a strong rationale and neuroscientific research tends to support its structure, some situations require a degree of adaptation to either engage clients in the treatment or improve its outcome. However, one of the traps of over-adapting the model is the loss of efficacy and long-term reliability in the desired skills, such as emotion-regulation, preventing unhelpful avoidance, interpersonal effectiveness, etc.
This master class will address these issues and provide several examples of model adaptation at various levels of the model. Examples of adaptation between and within the four stages for various disorders or cases will be provided.
Learning Objectives
You will learn:
- How and when to delay the standard steps
- How (and why) to insert intermediate steps
- How to modify the approach
- When not to use mindfulness in MiCBT and for how long
