Mindfulness CDs for Practice
There are 2 CDs. The first is a complete mindfulness CD (Stage 1 of MiCBT). It contains an orally presented rationale for mindfulness training, a section on mindfulness of breathing, a short introduction for each practice section, and a recommendation for scheduling the use and the withdrawal of the CD. The addition of a section on mindfulness with breathing helps clients who are momentarily unable to scan the body and those whose training is best limited to this particular skill (see Cayoun, 2004, for discussion from the MiCBT manual, available from the author).
The second CD contains advanced scanning methods (symmetrical, sweeping, and transversal) and instructions for Grounded Empathy (Loving Kindness). It is used with more advanced trainees, including trained professionals themselves. These mindfulness CDs make distance training easier without it being directly delivered by a clinician; though some sort of close supervision remains essential. They also make the training more efficient when delivered by a clinician.
Psych Technologies is currently undertaking the distribution of mindfulness training CDs. The links below will lead you directly to the order form on the Psych Technologies web site.

Advanced Mindfulness Training [79:25]
(2005) By Bruno A. Cayoun
Level: This CD is not appropriate for beginners. It contains advanced scanning methods, which are usually delivered as part of (but not restricted to) the 8-week program of MiCBT. It is recommended for people who have trained with the Stage 1 CD (above) for at least 4 to 5 weeks and for those who attended a residential course in MBSR, MBCT or Vipassana Meditation and are practising daily.
The CD contains instructions to acquire progressively advanced skills in mindfulness meditation and promote profound understanding of mind-body interactions in daily situations. It facilitates the rapid detection of early cues of distress, when they are still manageable. It also contains instructions for "Loving Kindness" meditation, an important skill in traditional mindfulness training which helps develop emotional intelligence and contributes to preventing relapse.
- Introduction to advanced scanning
- Symmetrical (bilateral) scanning
- Partial sweeping
- Sweeping en masse
- Transversal scanning
- Loving Kindness meditation (implemented during Stage 4 of MiCBT)
