Aims and Scope
- To provide a context for learning from other clinicians with varying experiences
- To provide useful feedback to members attempting to learn the technique for themselves
- To facilitate implementation of mindfulness-based techniques via case discussions
- To become and remain acquainted with current research
- To facilitate a collaborative approach for research and data publication
- To facilitate networking with other interest groups or individual clinicians and researchers with similar interests

MTRIG meetings are held every two months at the University of Tasmania, Hobart, Australia.

MiCBT Practitioners Interest Group

A new group has been formed in Northern Tasmania. Members are in the process of structuring activities and aims. Details for the first meeting are:

MiCBT Practitioners Interest Group
Sydney, New South Wales
Alice Shires is coordinating a Mindfulness-integrated CBT (MiCBT) Practitioner’s Interest Group to be held once a month on a Monday at 5.00pm at the University of New South Wales, School of Psychology, in room 812 on level 8 Mathews Building.
Aims
- To kick start and develop personal practice
- To provide useful feedback to members attempting to learn the technique for themselves
- To provide a context for learning from other clinicians with varying experiences
- To introduce Mindfulness-integrated CBT as a therapeutic tool
- To become and remain acquainted with current research

Mindfulness Interest Group
Adelaide, South Australia
Michelle Martin coordinates a professional Mindfulness Interest Group in Adelaide that meets every second month on a Wednesday night from 5.30-7pm at the Centre for the Treatment of Anxiety and Depression (CTAD), 30 Anderson Street, Thebarton.
The group is open to clinicians and students from a range of disciplines.
Aims
- To provide peer support and feedback to clinicians.
- To promote the use of mindfulness in clinical practice.
- To encourage the development of mindfulness-based therapy groups in the local area.
- To foster local research into the use of mindfulness in clinical practice.
- To reinforce the importance of personal practice.
- To facilitate networking with other interest groups or individuals of similar interests.
Activities
- Mindfulness practice sessions.
- Case presentations and discussion of local group programs / practice issues.
- Review of research articles and local research.
- Promotion of conferences and upcoming events relevant to the practice of mindfulness, and training opportunities in this area.
