Winter/Spring 2008
Getting Unstuck:
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
Getting Unstuck is offered in response to discussions with you and many other leaders who have found it challenging to maintain balance in their lives and would like to change their response to the inevitable stressors we all face.
- Workshop Objectives: Getting Unstuck takes a systematic approach to developing new kinds of control and wisdom in your life. It is based on our inner capacities for relaxation, paying attention, awareness and insight. This is active, experiential learning using your own inherent strengths.
Mindfulness itself is defined as moment-by-moment, non-reactive, non-judgemental awareness. We will use primarily our breath to cultivate our ability to pay attention and stay in the present moment, so you already have the necessary supplies when you come to the first class! In addition, there will be mindfulness in movement, we’ll look at the physiology of stress and take time for ourselves so that we are able to offer our best in our work and to our families and friends.
The potential benefits of mindfulness training include:
- The ability to more effectively manage your stress and your workload
- Making conscious choices in an ever-changing environment;
- Access a deeper emotional intelligence; and
- A positive increase in your psychological well-being.
Past participants comments include:
- This is the most “real work” I have ever done
- I am now able to deal with my stress more effectively
- I’m less reactive at work and at home
- I am experiencing more joy
- This course has changed my life
